Medical Secretary

Salary: circa £9.50 per hour dependent on experience, plus NHS pension
Job Type: Permanent, 20-25 hours per week over three or four days (flexibility essential)

Dr Bennett & Partners, operating as The Fakenham Medical Practice, is an eleven doctor dispensing practice providing care to around 15,000 patients in and around Fakenham in North Norfolk. We are looking for a Medical Secretary to provide secretarial/administrative services to clinicians within the Practice. This will require word processing and audio typing skills, alongside more general administrative skills including telephone work, arranging meetings, taking minutes, producing spreadsheets and reports, record keeping and filing.

We work from modern, purpose-built premises. The Partners and staff have a shared belief in the delivery of high quality, traditional personal family healthcare. Patients' interests are kept very much to the fore and there is a strong commitment to develop patient services. To promote a multi-disciplinary team approach, we share our premises with other providers including a pharmacy, adult social services and local community services e.g. physiotherapy and midwifery.

The successful applicant will join a busy secretarial team, be actively involved in the continuous improvement of our secretarial services and communication with patients, doctors, nurses and other care providers. Preference will be given to applicants who can demonstrate their ability to provide high quality secretarial services and have a sound understanding of medical terminology. They will ideally have experience of using SystmOne practice/patient management software; although full training will be provided.
